Compact and Point-of-Use Effluent Decontamination Systems

AstellBio compact and point-of-use systems provide thermal wastewater treatment close to the source of contamination. They are designed for individual laboratories, sinks, drains or instruments where a large central EDS is not required. Heat under pressure is used to deactivate microbes, viruses, spores and genetically modified material without manual chemical dosing.

Depending on the model, wastewater can be poured into an integrated basin or transferred automatically from connected equipment. The range covers applications from Biosafety Level 1 (BSL1), used for well-characterized agents not known to consistently cause disease in healthy adults, through BSL2 for moderate-hazard agents and BSL3 for agents that may cause serious or potentially lethal disease, particularly through inhalation. Astell systems are made in the UK by a sterilization equipment manufacturer established in 1884.

Point-of-use wastewater sterilization

The AstellBio Sink incorporates a wash basin above a compact EDS. Liquids entering the basin are collected and automatically sterilized before discharge to the drain. This provides a dedicated disposal point for potentially contaminated liquid waste.

Connection to existing drains and equipment

The Micro EDS can be connected to the wastewater outlet of a selected laboratory application. Biological material in the wastewater is sterilized automatically as the liquid passes into the unit.

Combined solid and liquid waste treatment

The Sink & Autoclave Combo combines a 63 L compact top-loading autoclave with an integrated sink-based EDS. It provides one workstation for autoclaving laboratory materials and thermally treating liquid waste.

Automated treatment up to 200 L/h

The Liquid Waste Autoclave 200 connects to sinks, sluices and other wastewater-producing devices. It automatically collects, sterilizes and disposes of up to 200 L of liquid waste per hour without manual loading.

Process monitoring

The Liquid Waste Autoclave 200 includes a colour touchscreen showing cycle status, pressure, temperature, process stage, cycle time and liquid level. Cycle data can be stored and downloaded through Ethernet or USB.
