CO₂-Cooled BINDER MK and MKF Climate Chambers Reach −50 °C and Cool Down Faster
BINDER’s MK and MKF climate chambers are now available in versions cooled with CO₂ (R744), which is not an F-gas refrigerant. These versions cool from +180 to −40 °C in 60 to 80 min, while the previous versions of the same sizes need 100 to 120 min. The CO₂ versions also reach −50 °C (−48 °C in the two larger sizes), while the previous versions stop at −40 °C.
CO₂ Chambers Are Not Affected by the EU F-Gas Ban
CO₂ is not a fluorinated gas, so the EU ban on F-gas refrigerants does not apply to the CO₂ chambers. Since 1 January 2025, Regulation (EU) 2024/573 has banned new self-contained refrigeration equipment with fluorinated gases of a GWP (global warming potential) of 150 or more from the EU market. An exception applies only where safety requirements at the place of use call for these gases.
MK CO₂ for Temperature, MKF CO₂ Also for Humidity
The MK CO₂ controls temperature only, while the MKF CO₂ also controls humidity from 10 to 98% RH. Humidity control works when the chamber is between 10 and 95 °C.
Both series work from −50 °C (−48 °C in the 734 and 991 L sizes) up to +180 °C.
Each Size Cools Down 35 to 60 Minutes Faster
Every cool-down from +180 to −40 °C is shorter than in the previous version of the same size:
- 228 L (MK/MKF 240 CO₂): up to 60 min faster
- 417 L (MK/MKF 400 CO₂): 35 min faster
- 734 L (MK/MKF 720 CO₂): up to 60 min faster
- 991 L (MK/MKF 1020 CO₂): 50 min faster
Our Specialist Helps You Choose the Chamber
Send us the dimensions of your test object and your temperature profile. Our specialist will recommend the series, size and equipment, and we will then install the chamber in your lab and carry out the qualification.
If you test batteries or need special feed-throughs or interfaces, add these requirements to your message. If no standard model fits, BINDER can build a customised chamber.
